Douglas Galloway, age 74, of Northport, died Jan. 7, 2011, at St. Vincent's Hospital in Birmingham. Services will be 2 p.m. today at First Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Baumgarten and Rev. Jerry Montgomery officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Pearl Galloway; brother, Guin Galloway; sister, Blonnell Clark; and wife, Sara Nell Galloway, all of Northport.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Ann Galloway of Northport; daughter, Jan Galloway McGriff (Steve) of Helena; stepdaughter, Cindy Lawley (Mark) of West Lafayette, Ind.; son, Brian Galloway (Donna) of Northport; sisters, Betty Guy (Bertis) and Berthalene Holloway, both of Northport; brothers, Raiford Galloway (Myree) and David Galloway (Terri), both of Northport; grandchildren, Blake McGriff of Helena, Ashley Johnson (Jeremiah) of Northport, and Anna Galloway of Northport; stepgrandchildren, Jason and Sarah Lawley, both of West Lafayette, Ind.; and great-grandson, Payton Johnson of Northport.

Mr. Galloway had a quiet way of putting people at ease, and befriended many people throughout Fayette and Tuscaloosa Counties. He was grounded in his faith in Jesus Christ and treated people accordingly. He looked for the best in people and gave everyone the benefit of the doubt. He was an honorable man who was highly respected and loved by his many friends and family. He was a devoted husband, daddy, and "Paw Paw." The family deeply appreciates the expression of love shown for him.

Pallbearers will be James Hunter, Burgess Pate, Revis Guy, Rick Latham, Bobby Lancaster, and Murray Renfroe.

Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Ronald McCormick, employees of Citizen Bank of Fayette, Members of Brotherhood Sunday School Class, retirees of Uniroyal and BF Goodrich Tire Company, Tony Rickert, and Arthur Pruitt,
