Mrs. Tobias was born Dec. 18, 1919, in Nacogdoches County, Texas. She was the youngest of eight children born to Edward and Jenny (Galtom) Hall, and made Lufkin her home. She passed away, Sept. 18, 2006, with family by her side.
Maxine was affectionately known as "Granny" to her family and friends. She met and married her first husband, Lowell "Red" Williams and began her family. They had three daughters. Lowell owned and operated a brick laying business and Maxine eventually opened her own florist shop. "Maxine's Florist". She loved flowers, and ran the Florist Shop for many years until closing it after a fire. She was married to "Red" for 32 years, before he passed away in 1969.
Maxine married her second husband, Emett Tobias, in 1970. she began working for the Lufkin State School, from which she retired in 1982. She was married to Emmett for 32 years as well, until his death in 2003.
Following the death of her second husband, Maxine lived with her granddaughter. She enjoyed traveling and was able to visit places that she had always want to see. Maxine's motto was "what I say goes..And I say "Go!!!" She loved life and loved her family. Maxine had many friends and loved them all.
