Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Jenkins Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. R.T. McNeil of St. James Baptist Church in Odessa officiating and the Rev. D.D. Fincher, pastor, as eulogist. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Warford-Walker Mortuary, 509 N. Hughes St.
Clifton Lawrence was born Aug. 24, 1931, in Coolidge to Shelton and Gabrella Lawrence. He lived in Odessa and moved to Amarillo in the early 1950s. He worked for Amarillo Independent School District as a bus driver in 1981 and retired from Durham Transportation Services in 2010.
He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church for many years and changed his membership to Jenkins Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, where he was a faithful member. Mr. C enjoyed visiting and cooking for his church family and friends. His pies will be truly missed.
Survivors include nine children, Clifton Lawrence and wife Erica of Arlington, Yolanda Swoops and husband Todd of Odessa, Cynthia Poole and husband Bennie of Mansfield, Ray Lawrence and wife Carla of Bedford, Kirk Lawrence and wife Kim and Terrance Floyd and wife Michelle, all of Amarillo, Victoria Jones and husband Derrick of Killeen; Alvin Murray and wife Eve and Wilbert Murry, all of Los Angeles; three brothers; six sisters; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a host of family, extended family and friends; and special friends, Marlon and Tasha "Lil' Daughter" Sims.
Wake will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
