U.S. Congressman. He graduated from College of the City of New York in 1923, from the law school of Columbia University, in 1926, was admitted to the bar 1926 and proceeded to practice law in New York City. He was member of the New York State Assembly, (1945-46) and served in the New York State Senate, (1947-50). In 1951, he was elected as a Democrat to the Eighty-second, Eighty-third and Eighty-fourth Congresses, serving until his resignation in 1956. He then was a Senior Judge of the New York State Supreme Court, (1956-75). He died in retirement at age 78.
