US Congressman. He attended St. Francis College, graduated from Long Island Medical College in 1914, was licensed to practice medicine and was an author of surgical topics. During World War I, he served on the medical advisory board, instructing US medical officers going overseas. In 1935, he was elected as a Democrat to the Seventy-fourth Congress and to the next seven succeeding Congresses, serving until 1951. After his term, he resumed the practice of medicine until his death at age 82.
