She married George Edward Clarke on August 12, 1916 in Mt. Pleasant, Henry County, Iowa. They were divorced on Feb. 8, 1922 in Jefferson County, Iowa. They had one daughter, Doris Eileen Clarke.
A 2008 family group sheet on George Edward Clarke by Verda Baird provides the information that an obituary for Alexander Hopkirk mentions that Bessie was then (about 1945) married to a "M.D. Alexander"; his name and their marriage information is not found in Bessie's obituary, however. When and where he died, and is buried, is not disclosed.
