He was of the Baptist faith, and was a U.S. Marine Veteran, having served in Korea. James loved and enjoyed raising flowers, with the iris and daylily being his specialty. He also enjoyed taking his beloved dog, Bo, for his daily walks at the Norris Dam area, where he met and enjoyed his numerous friends.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by: his sister, Anna L. Abner; and brother, C. Frank Abner. Survivors: sister, who cared for him during his long illness, Betty Ward, & husband, Ernest F. Ward of Knoxville, TN; brother, Ralph & wife Betty Jo Abner, Newark, Delaware; sister-in-law, Barbara Abner, Lake City, TN; several nieces & nephews, great nieces & nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends. James was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
