LATE MRS. SLAFTER TO BE BURIED SATURDAY
Mrs. Alonzo Slafter passed away Wednesday morning, March 11 [1925], at 11:30 o'clock at the age of nearly 80 years. Mary Lumbard was born at Lapeer April 14, 1845, her parents coming to Michigan from Vermont. She was married to Alonzo Slafter at Lapeer May 26, 1875. They have made their home in Vassar for the past 11 years, previous to that time they resided at Tuscola. Mr. Slafter preceded her in death April 28, 1924.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. A. Louise Coleman of Ann Arbor and Mrs. David Webb of Flushing, four grandchildren, Manley and Irene Webb, Mrs. Thurber Chyrsler and Miss Mildred Coleman, one great grandchild, Melburn Chrysler, two brothers, George of Kingston and Horace Lumbard of Lapeer.
Mrs. Slafter was a member of the Baptist church and was highly esteemed by the forgetting of self and the beautiful Christian life she had lived.
The funeral will be held from her late home Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. J. W. Jacobus officiating.
Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery.
