-- The funeral for Mrs. Patricia "Pat" Pate Wylie of 131 Sunset Drive will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 28, at Chester Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church. Dr. Dwight Pearson and the Rev. Clint Davis will officiate and burial will follow in Chester Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Wylie, 69, died early Tuesday morning, Nov. 25, 2008, at her home.

Born in San Angelo, Texas, on Dec. 24, 1938, she was a daughter of Harry M. and Vivian Shaw Pate. A graduate of Amarillo High School and Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Mrs. Wylie was an active member of Chester ARP Church, where she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, knitted prayer shawls and participated in the Ester Strong Circle. She was also a past president of the ARP Women of the Church. Mrs. Wylie led the way for many women into the business world. She was the retired director of purchasing for Sequa Corp. and was the first woman to be elected president of the Purchasing Managers Association of the Carolinas and Virginia. Mrs. Wylie served on the board of directors of the Chester County Natural Gas Authority since 1989. In 1992, she was elected only the second chairman in the history of the Chester County Natural Gas Authority. Mrs. Wylie was also a member of the DAR and Alpha Phi Sorority.

Survivors include her husband, Robert E. Wylie; a son, Michael A. Wylie of Chester; a daughter, Martha Lu Shifflett of Tega Cay; and five grandchildren, Krystal Widener, Ben Wylie, Kris Widener, Mary Shaw Wylie and Owen Shifflett.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Barron Funeral Home, 133 Wylie St., Chester.
