Our dear daughter and sister, Jodi Kay Campbell, was born to Roger and Marla (Schmidt) Campbell on February 6, 1995. She passed away unexpectedly on January 6, 2011, reaching the age of almost sixteen years. At the age of three, she lost a leg in an unfortunate accident. Her acceptance and resilience in overcoming that difficulty were a challenge and inspiration to many. She faced life's challenges without complaint. She enjoyed her school years and school friends at Meadowlark Christian School, graduating from the eighth grade in 2009.As our only daughter and sister, she held a very special place in our home.As she matured into her teen years, she was a loved friend of her fellow youth, who will miss her fun loving disposition and sense of humor. We know that very recently God was reaching out to Jodi, and that her heart was soft to that call. Her friends recently noticed a special happiness about her. Even in her last moments, she was reaching out to God. We are comforted that God loves Jodi more than any of us ever could, and we can safely commit her to Him.She leaves her grieving parents, Roger and Marla; four brothers: Tyler, Ethan, Jesse, and Ivan; grandmothers June Campbell and Beatrice Riggs, and uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.Preceding her in death are her grandfathers: Earl Campbell and Leroy Schmidt, and two cousins.

Our Rosebud Fair

Written by a friend

With bleeding hearts and weeping eyes,
Oh, how it hurts, these sad goodbyes!
These last few days we didn't know
How very soon from us you'd go!

We thought you had your life ahead,
A young rose, in life's flower bed.
An enfolding bud, so sweet and fair,
Your sweetness we could daily share!

In moments your young life was gone,
A life still living in the dawn,
Your dreams became as shattered glass,
Our lovely maiden, our only lass.

Your life's young bloom lay withered there,
Our hearts grew numb in deep despair!
How could we give our daughter up,
How could we drink this bitter cup?

With aching hearts and heaving breasts,
We trust in God that He knows best.
We find our strength on wings of prayer,
And trust to God, our rosebud fair.

A funeral service was held on January 9, 2011, at the Meridian Church of God in Christ, Mennonite officiated by Min. Eldon Wenger, Min. Franklin Wenger, and Min. Shawn Giesel. Burial was in the adjoining church cemetery.
