Edwin R. Brewer, 86, of 120 Meshopany Ridge Road, (Fire House Hill), Meshoppen, passed away at his home, in Meshoppen Township, Wyoming County, Pa., on Friday morning, January 7, 2011, after an illness. Mr. Brewer was born in Meshoppen on August 19, 1924, a son of the late John and Ethel France Brewer.

Growing up in Meshoppen, he was a lifelong dairy farmer on Fire House Hill.

He was married for 32 years to the former Virginia Hofer Brewer, until her passing away on December 12, 1986.

A very independent man and farmer, he dedicated his life to his family and farm. Throughout his life he enjoyed being surrounded by his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren in his later years.

Besides his wife and his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Harry Brewer, William Brewer, George Brewer, and Claude Brewer; and two sisters, Dorothy Brewer Repper and Grace Brewer Sheffler.

Surviving are his children, Edwin and Bonnie Brewer, and Cindy and Eric Sprout, all of Meshoppen; as well as his grandchildren, Amy and Doug Day, of Meshoppen, Dan and Tana Brewer, of Hubert, N.C., Brittney and Jimmy Sheridan, of Mehoopany, and Hannah and Craig Ciprich, of Laceyville, Pa.; and his great-grandchildren, Kyle and Kelsey Day of Meshoppen, and Zane and Alana Brewer, of Hubert, N.C. He is also survived by a sister, Eleanor Brewer Michel, of Charlotte, N.C.; a sister-in-law, Juanita Brewer, of New Milford, Pa.; and a brother-in-law, Arthur Sheffler, of Meshoppen; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Sheldon Funeral Home, Main Street, Meshoppen, with the Rev. Joseph Billingsley, of the Mehoopany Baptist Church, officiating.

Interment will be in the Overfield Cemetery in Meshoppen.

Family and friends may call at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until service time Monday.
