Bette L. (Keener) Archuleta went to her Lord's house on October 31, 1998. Born to Jeff and Ellen (Woodall) Keener on May 22, 1928 in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, she was raised by her grandparents in the Prairie Cherokee allotment land near Hulbert, Oklahoma. After graduation, she worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone as an operator.

On February 28, 1953, Bette married Marcos (Archie) Archuleta in Pawhuska. They moved to Woodward, Oklahoma in 1960 where they lived for 35 years. While in Woodward, Bette Worked for Divines, Tots and Teens, J. C. Penney, and Gill's Surplus. She studied art under Dord Fitz at the Little Red School House for many years. Bette worked at Western State Hospital as an art consultant and therapist for more than 17 years until her retirement. She loved working with geriatrics and the patients at Western State Hospital. She especially enjoyed and valued the friends she made in the art world. Upon retirement she and her husband moved to Wagoner, Oklahoma to be near Indian Health Services because of Bette's failing health and diabetes.

Bette was a faithful member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Woodward for many years. She was known by many for her quiet dignity and intense prayer life.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, her parents and her brother J. B. Keener, a veteran of the Normandy Invasion.

She is survived by her husband, Archie; two sisters, Georgia Moon, Pawhuska, and Bernice Harwell, Tulsa; three nephews, several grand-nephews, many cousins and a multitude of friends.

Memorial services were held for Bette on Sunday, November 15 at 1 p.m. at St. John's Episcopal Church with the Rev. Mary Davis Benbrook officiating. A meal and giveaway were held immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, it has been request that donation be made to the building fund for St. John's Episcopal Church.
