An explanation of the changes I sent to you.

I was researching my Maddox lines when I came across Mary Elizabeth Tyner, who married David A Maddox.

I had Mary born in 1868 and dying in 1898.

David survived to 1933, remarried and had more kids (I have not yet found his burial location).

Mary's parents were Martin VanBuren Tyner & Mary M Lane.

That is where I came across this memorial that you manage, for Mary Elizabeth Maddox.

Mary Elizabeth Tyner's parents are buried in this same cemetery.
Her married name was Maddox.

Her year of death is 1898.

The only difference is the year of birth -- 1863.

Census records suggest she was born 1869, but they are often off 1 or 2 years, so the year of birth I had, 1868, is not inconsistent with Census records.

This headstone clearly says 1863, however.

A 3 can be easily confused with an 8, with sloppy writing, bad eyesight or faded records.

I believe this headstone was either placed after the fact, as evidenced by the slab (with her name on it, inscribed in small stones), and an engraved headstone by the slab, that appears much more recent.

I believe the headstone year of birth was a transcription error, for the above noted reasons.
