They were the movers and shakers of Oxford Jct., Wheatland, and Maquoketa IA. Ira contracted a disease while visiting his dieing father Erastus Carter in Ravenna, returned home to Oxford Jct. by train, already ill upon arriving, and died ca. 2 weeks later.
