Brett Thomas Griffin, son of Dorothy Lou and Ben Hill Griffin III of Frostproof, died Thursday at Florida Hospital in DeLand.

Cause of death was heart failure. He was 34.

Born in Lake Wales on Nov. 5, 1971, he was a lifelong resident of Frostproof, but had been in a facility for the handicapped prior to his death.

"He was severely handicapped and had suffered most of his life, yet we were blessed to have had him in our lives," his father said. "He was always a happy child and remained so right up to the end. He has been in the care of the Lord since his birth."

Survivors include his parents; brother, Ben Hill Griffin IV of Frostproof; sisters, Kitty Griffin Rogers and Candy Griffin Denton, both of Babson Park.

A private family service will be held with interment at Silver Hill Cemetery.

Marion Nelson Funeral Home of Frostproof is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Duval Presbyterian Home, P.O. Box 220036, Glenwood, FL 32722.
