Actor - Ted Jordan (real name Theodore H. Friedman) was a character actor predominantly in the 1940's through the 1981, and appeared on numerous television shows and several movies. He is most remembered for playing on the James Arness television western, Gunsmoke 131 times, mainly as the character Nathan Burke. He was not listed in the credits of many of the television shows he appeared on due to the part being small or brief. His last series was The Waltons which he appeared in four times. He worked with many great stars during his career to include not only James Arness but with Rita Hayworth, Charles Bronson, Ronald Reagan, Jane Russell, Kirk Douglas, Betty Grable, Humphrey Bogart, Lucille Ball, Lana Turner, Dean Martin and even Sharon Tate, the actress murdered by the Manson family in 1969.

"Ted Jordan, 80, died. He is formerly known as Eddie
Friedman, television and movie star and author of the book "Norma Jean"... (and) appeared in many T.V. programs as well as the character "Burke" on the television show Gunsmoke. He is survived by brother, Dr. Ben Friedman of California. He is preceded in death by parents, Edgar and Ruth Friedman, both formerly of Lancaster and Los Angeles, Calif.; and uncle, Ted Lewis. Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Cemetery Chapel, 6440 S. High St., Entombment, St. Joseph Cemetery Mausoleum. Arrangements by the Maeder-Quint-Tiberi Funeral Home, 614-444-1185."

Jordan shared the stage and screen with many of Hollywoods most beautiful women. He married the famous strip-tease artist/actress Lili St. Cyr in Las Vegas on 2/21/1955. Jordan published a book entitled "Norma Jean: My Secret Life with Marilyn Monroe", which was made into a HBO movie with Ashley Judd & Mira Sorvino. In the book he alleges he had a relationship with Monroe and was her personal confidant. In the book he writes that Monroe did not want to keep their a pregnancy that she experienced and that he was the child's father. Biographers of Miss Monroe say the relationship did not exist between the two.

In some of Jordan's movie/TV credits he used the name Edwin Friedman.
