"William Luther Allen was born in Whitesville, January 11, 1891, and died at his home in Rosendale, October 13, 1918, after about a week's illness with pneumonia following influenza.


He was married to Gretchyn Thompson on December 10, 1912. He leaves his wife; his parents; and two sisters, Miss Lula Allen, and Mrs. Floyd Hackley of Rea.


The funeral was held in the Lower Neely Grove cemetery where interment was made Tuesday after-noon with a large crowd present. Rev. A. R. Hunt gave the memorial address.


This young man was little more than twenty-seven years old and the family have the sympathy of all in his untimely going." Savannah Reporter (Savannah, Missouri), October 18, 1918
