Funeral services for Willard Godfrey Chaplin, Sr., 91, of Monroe (Bosco), will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, January 8, 2011, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe with Rev. Job Edathinatt officiating. Interment will follow at Union Cemetery near Haile, LA.
Mr. Chaplin passed away Wednesday, January 5, 2011. He was the former owner of Chaplin Garbage Service of over twenty-five years and a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church.
Mr. Chaplin was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Wendy J. Chaplin; three brothers and three sisters.
Survivors include his wife of forty-five years, Dorothy (Manning)Chaplin; children, Sarah Chaplin Fife, Otis Chaplin, Sr., Willard G. Chaplin, Jr., Katherine A. Chaplin, Cindy J. Bailey, and Rebecca Chaplin; twenty-one grandchildren, three great grandchildren, three brothers, four sisters, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Pallbearers will be Otis D. Chaplin, Jr., T. J. Chaplin, Shawn Fife, Mixon Craft, Elmer Gradick, and Johnny Bailey. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeremy Fife and Alex Chaplin.
Visitation will be Saturday from 9:00 AM until service time at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
Willard was the son of Felix Chaplin and 2. Ozelia Perot, who married on Oct. 6, 1918 in Columbia, Caldwell Parish, LA. Their children were Willard, Rosemary, Clayton, Julia, Curtis, Mitchel, Lucille, Otis, Dorothy Chaplin and a baby boy who died at birth.
Felix married 1. Irma Perot. Their children were Ellane (married Virease Perot), Orlean, Sadie Mary (married Franklin Elsie Smith), Joe and Mathew Chaplin. After Irma's death, Felix married her sister, Ozelia Perot.
Willard's G-Grandparents: Philip "Matassa" Chaplin and Cecile "Sis" Grappe & Overton Perot and Mary T. Hongo. His GG-Grandparents: Alphonse Perot and Victoria Simons & Dr. Hilario Hongo and Azelie Phillip.
