Mr. Salzer is survived by a daughter Elizabeth Salzer and her husband Richard Baumgartner of Palo Alto, CA, a son Karl Salzer and his wife Gabrielle Hense Salzer of Rexford, NY, a son F. Paul Salzer III of Southwick, MA, a daughter Joan Geitz and her husband James Geitz of Emporia, KS, and Alice Berard Barcomb and her husband Marcel Barcomb of Plattsburg, NY. He is also survived by his grandchildren Thomas Salzer and Rebecca Salzer of Westfield, MA, James Geitz and wife Amy Lowry Geitz , Jonathan Geitz and his wife Alison Lawrence Geitz of Emporia, KS, and Jeffrey Geitz and Rebecka Foley Geitz of St. Louis, MO. His five great-grandchildren are Cameron, Lily, Sammy, Lucy, and Carson Geitz.
Mr. Salzer spent his life teaching in New York State retiring from the Malone Central School District. While in Malone, he initiated the establishment of the North Franklin Federal Credit Union, was a trustee of the Decormier Fund for NYSTRA, and a member of the Malone VFW. As a lifelong Catholic, Fred was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus.
