Funeral services are 10 a.m. Friday at Faith Lutheran Church, Moline, where she was a member. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Schroder Mortuary, Silvis. Memorials may be made to the church.
She was born May 11, 1918, in Decorah, Iowa, to Theodore and Clara Helgeson Anderson. She married Jerome Soukup May 30, 1941, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Bettendorf.
Ceceil was office manager for Modern Heating and Sheet Metal, which she owned and operated with her husband and Vern and Jean Biorn for 28 years.
Ceceil graduated from Decorah, Iowa, High School in 1935. She was one of the first women to attend Luther College in Decorah, where she graduated and was certified as a teacher in the state of Iowa. She taught in a one-room, eight-grade school outside of Ridgeway, Iowa.
Survivors (and spouses) include her husband, Jerome; sons, Jerry (Geri), Denver, Colo., Gregory (Debrah), Bakersfield, Calif., Bruce (Herlinda), East Moline; sisters, Beatrice Halse, East Moline, Neoma Ruffridge, Pella, Iowa; grandchildren, Mary Johns, Juneau, Alaska, Sherryl Lynn Soukup, Los Angeles, Bruce J. Soukup, Joe Soukup and Steve Soukup, all of East Moline; two great-grandchildren.
