Hilda Mary (Brown) Warnick, 91, of Polk died on Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2011, at Annie Jeffrey Memorial County Health Center in Osceola. Hilda was born on Sept. 8, 1919, in Derby, England to Charles and Rose Brown.

Hilda was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard A. Warnick, on March 7, 2005, and son, Leonard Warnick.

Survivors are: son, Anthony Warnick of Polk; grandchildren, Bradley and Natasha Warnick of Brunswick, Ga., Michael Warnick and Daniel and Tamera Warnick, both of Polk, and Alicia and David Ellis of Orlando, Fla.; and nine great-grandchildren.

Hilda attended the local Catholic grade school and graduated from Derby High School. Hilda met Leonard A. Warnick, an American soldier, and they were married on June 20, 1945, in England. They made their home in Polk, where Hilda worked at local coffee shops for many years.

Hilda was a member of St. Vincent's Catholic Church in Osceola, the American Legion Auxiliary in Polk, and she enjoyed knitting. Hilda was also a Gold Star Mother in honor of her son, Leonard C. Warnick, who was killed in 1970 in the Vietnam War.

Hilda was also preceded in death by four brothers; one sister, Violet; brothers-in-law, Virgil, Lowell and Elmer Warnick; and sisters-in-law, Dorothy Warnick, Muriel Rinterman and Marjorie Ehn.
