Sylvan Floyd Frank, 56, of Rt. 2, Edon, was killed shortly before noon today when he was crushed underneath a tractor that overturned on him while he was at work. The tragic mishap happened at approximately 10:30 a.m. on the Frank farm, located six miles north and two miles east of Edon, and a short distance south of U.S. Route 20. The Kundard, Cretors & Kissell Funeral Home ambulance was called from Edon, but the injured farmer died while en route to Williams County General Hospital, Montpelier. He was pronounced dead upon arrival there at 11:15 a.m. Coroner C. Paul Waid attributed death to a fractured skull, and returned a verdict of accidental death. The unfortunate man was pinned under the tractor for some time, and could not be extricated until after the ambulance arrived on the scene. Several men were able to lift the vehicle sufficiently to release the body. After the accident a son, Glen Frank, collapsed and was admitted to the hospital at Montpelier for treatment. Mr. Frank is survived by his wife Hazel; a son, Glen, Rt. 2, Edon; a daughter, Mrs. Mildred Ireland, Ray, Indiana; a brother, Harley Frank, Bryan; and a sister, Mrs. Grace Cramer, neat Montpelier. The body was taken to the Wilson Funeral Home at Montpelier. Services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Berlin Christian Union Church near Edon, with the Rev. Richard Rieth, pastor, officiating. – The Bryan Times, Bryan, Ohio. Monday, September 24, 1956
