Loren W. "Woodie" Collins, 84, of Convoy, died at 8:35 a.m. Wednesday, January 5, 2011, at Vancrest Health Care Center of Convoy.
He was born September 26, 1926, in Van Wert, the son of the late Ray T. and Hattie E. (Taylor) Collins. He first married Betty R. (Schaffner) Collins, who died in 1994. He then married Vivian (Smith) Collins, who preceded him in death in 2009.
Survivors include a son, Jeff (Mary) Collins of Van Wert; one sister, Shirley A. Collins of Van Wert; a granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
Two sisters, Beatrice O. "Bea" Taylor and Myrtle I. Duff, also preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 8, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert, with the Rev. Dr. Joseph Harr officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert, with graveside military rites performed by the combined honors units of American Legion Post 178 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803, both in Van Wert.
