BRUCEVILLE, Ind. -- Doyle Cofer, 75, of Fishers, fomerly of Bruceville, died Friday morning from injuries suffered in a construction accident in Noblesville.

He was a civil engineer, and he owned Cofer Construction Co. in Indianapolis.

An Indiana State University graduate, he played basketball under coach John Wooden at the university.

During World War II, he was in the Marine Corps, and he played professional basketball for the Boston Celtics and the New York Knickerbockers. He also played for the House of David ball club during the late 1940s.

He was a member of Bruceville Christian Church.

Surviving are three daughters, Karen Taylor of Marathon, Fla., Lisa Abrams of Terre Haute and Deann Cofer of Lexington, Ky.; a son, John of Indianapolis; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. EST Tuesday at McClure Funeral Home Bruceville Chapel, with burial in Bruceville Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
