James R. Ludack, age 83, of 811 Lake Shore Drive East in Ashland, WI died Thursday, January 6, 2011 at his residence. He was born August 25, 1927 in Ashland, WI the son of James & Esther (Kangas) Ludack.

He was a graduate of Ashland High School and served in the US Army at the end of World War II. On February 1, 1951 he married Rita Tolliver in Ashland, WI. James worked for the DNR at the Bayfield Fish Hatchery for many years and was a member of the Bohemian Lodge in Ashland, Duck's Unlimited and the NRA.

His hobbies included hunting, fishing, feeding the birds around his home, spending time at the cabin in Delta, WI and he was an avid Packer's fan.

He is survived by his wife, Rita Ludack of Ashland, WI; three children, Paula (John) Cherry of Chesapeake, VA, Jim (Barb) Ludack of Ashland, WI & Mark (Mary) Ludack of Ashland, WI; four grandchildren, Jessica (Chris) Mikkelson, Elizabeth (Chad) Hurrell, Melissa (Joe) Ott & Nikki (Brent) West; two great-grandchildren, Grace & Arlo Mikkelson; a brother, Roy Ludack of Ashland, WI; two sisters, Charlotte (Andy) Anderson of Ashland, WI and Yvonne (Leonard) Roberts of Silver Bay, MN; many nieces, nephews, other relatives & friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Geraldine & Vivian.

It was James wish that there be no visitation or funeral service for him, and the family requests that their privacy be respected at this time.
