Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2010 at the First Baptist Church in Haskell for Franklin F. Holmes, 70, of Coweta.

Rev. Jay Tom Dixon and Rev. Donald Hogue Jr. will officiate the service.

Pallbearers will be his nephews, Jeff Holmes, Preston Holmes, Randy Holmes, Ricky Holmes, Charles Holmes and Carl Holmes.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jake Crutchfield, Bob Branam, Leo Herriman, Jim Vestal, Sonny Hembree, Herb Smith, Jerry Gilbert, Jesse Phillips and Pete Damme.

Interment will be in the Haskell Cemetery in Haskell under the direction of Dowdy Funeral Home.

Holmes died Thursday, Oct. 28 at his home.

Holmes was born Jan. 25, 1940 in Broken Arrow to Lee Roy Sr. and Opal Deo (Bean) Holmes. He received his education in Coweta and at Northeastern State University.

His career as a school administrator spanned many years at Checotah and Coweta schools. He retired from the Haskell school system.

On Aug. 1, 1986 he and his wife, Cathy were married in Muskogee.

Holmes was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church in Haskell and Masonic Lodge No. 251.

He served his country proudly in the United States Army.

Holmes is survived by his wife, Cathy, of the home; his sons and daughters-in-law, Joe and Sharon Holmes of Claremore, Roy Holmes of Coweta, Bruce and Sherry Miller of Haskell and Tony and Jennifer Robinson of Bixby; his daughter, LuJuana (Bunny) and Tony Hutson of Broken Arrow; two brothers, Lee Roy Holmes Jr. of Tulsa and Paul Holmes of Durant; 15 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and several other family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Jerry, Alan and Jack and two sisters, Pauline and Martha.
