Son of Arthur J. Plante.

John served as a Seaman, Second Class, USS Jacob Jones (DD-130), U.S. Navy during World War II.

He resided in Cheshire County, New Hampshire prior to the war.

John was declared "Missing In Action" when the Jacob Jones was hit by a torpedo from German submarine U-578 and sank off the mid-Atlantic coast during the war.

He was awarded the Purple Heart.
