Fred J. Zanghi, Jr., 69, of 2706 Ridge Road, Tyrone, PA died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2011 at the Tyrone Hospital.

He was born September 12, 1941 in Altoona, the son of the late Fred J. and Domenica (Geraci) Zanghi, Sr.

He was first married Feb. 26, 1963 to Anne L. Brennan who died Feb. 9, 1993. He then married Bonnie (Grazier) Franchio July 16, 1994.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie, and sons, Fred J. Zanghi III (Jessika) of Bellefonte and Jim Zanghi (Jackie) of Lititz, PA. There are 5 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Stepsons, Stephen and David Franchio, and step-daughter, Robyn Ashby, and four step-grandchildren. A sister, Mary Langenbacher (Richard) of Mechanicsville, VA.

He was a graduate of Tyrone High School in 1959 and was a Vietnam Veteran serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. A member & Past Commander of American Legion Post 281 and the Pleasant Gap Legion 867 and a Past 23rd District Legion Chaplain. Life member of Bellefonte Elks Club #1094 and Past Commander of 40&8 Club of Port Matilda, member of the Hookies Fire Co., Tyrone VFW #4559, Bellwood Eagles, Altoona Moose Lodge, Altoona Swiss Club, Pine Grove Mills VFW. He was active in serving with the Tyrone Honor Guard. He enjoyed spending time with his dogs, Molly, Mandy and Max.

He retired in 1998 from Corning Industries as a Forming Specialist after 31 yrs. service.

Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011 at 11 AM at St. Matthew Church, Tyrone, with Fr. Jozef Kovacik and Rev. Christopher Klopp officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery with Military Honors by the Tyrone Honor Guard. Friends will be received at the Derman Funeral Home, Inc., Tyrone on Friday evening 6 to 9.
