Funeral Mass for Rose Anne Slater, age 71, of Belcourt, ND was held Wednesday, October 5, 2005, in St. Ann's Catholic Church in Belcourt. Burial was in the church cemetery. She passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2005 in the Presentation Medical Center, Rolla, ND.

Casket bearers were Cory Gourneau, Frank Slater, Lance Slater Jr., Edward LaFromboise, Louis LaFrombaoise Jr., and Richard Frederick Jr. Honorary beares were all Rose's family and friends. Special music was provided by Lambert Azure, Richard Frederick, Ed Johnson, LouAnn Allery, Betty Hamley, Roland Gourneau and Linda Wink.

Rose Ann Slater was born on June 28, 1934 in Belcourt to Louis B. and Eliza (DeCoteau) Wilkie. She atttended high school in Belcourt and graduated in 1952. Rose also received her Associate of Arts degree from the Turtle Mountain Community College in Belcourt.

Rose married Francis Slater on May 12, 1955, in St. Johm, ND. She worked at the Rolla Dry Cleaners, for the Belcourt School as assistant librarian under Norma Good, for the Turtle Mountain Tribe in Drug and Alcohol programs, and as admistrative assistant for the Turtle Mountain Tribe. Rose enjoyed all country music and the senior dances at the Senior Center in St. John and at Fiddler's Hall in Belcourt. One of her favorite things was playing bingo.

Rose is survived by a son, Lance J. (Jeanine Bercier) Slater of Belcourt; daughters: Rhonda (Roland) Gourneau of Belcourt, Ellen (Louis) LaFromboise of Belcourt, and Sherry (Jody) Cadotte of Bismarck; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brother: Pat Wilkie; and sister: Veronica Azure.

Rose was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters: Pam Jorgenson and Mary LaFromboise; and brothers: Raymond Wilkie, Louis Wilkie and Elmer Wilkie.
