1st Lieutenant Hanson was the pilot of B-24E Liberator #42-40164, serving with the 302nd Bomb Group, 357th Bomb Squadron. He was one of nine airmen killed when the bomber crashed on takeoff at Clovis Army Air Base, New Mexico.
