Thomas was the son of John Randall Blandford & Elizabeth Ann Clark. He married Louisa Cecilia Luckett in 1871 & they had 5 children. Thomas studied medicine under Dr B B Blincoe & graduated from the medical department of
Louisville University on 5 Mar 1869. He practiced medicine in West Louisville KY.
