Wilbert Black, 94, 903 W. Louisiana Ave., died Aug, 30, 1999, at home.He was a
native of Bessemer City, son of the late John and Maggie Webber Black, member of
St. James Baptist Church in Bessemer City where he served as a deacon for more
than 50 years and had served as superintendent of Sunday school.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Mae Belle Williams Black; daughters and son-in-law, Mary Edith
and Alfred Hunter, Billie Sue Ross, Bessemer City, Lottie B. Garvin, Geneva B.
Brooks, Bessie B. Rhodes, Nellie B. Floyd, Gastonia; son and daughter-in-law,
Fred W. and Frances Black, Bessemer City; sister, Modell Black, Gastonia;
brother-in-law, Charlie Williams, Charlotte; aunt, Elouise Webber, Gastonia; 62
grandchildren, 113 great-grandchildren, 34 great-great-grandchildren
FUNERAL: 4 p.m. Thursday, St. James Baptist Church, Bessemer City, Rev. A. Wayne

VISITATION: body will be placed in church at 6 tonight and will lie in state
until the service, family will receive friends at the home
