MRS. H. W. ALMACK

Many friends in Lucas county will learn with deep regret of the death of Mrs. H. W. Almack, which occurred at her home in Albia, Iowa, on January 11th, 1918, at the age of 67 years, 1 month and 19 days, after an extended illness with dropsy and a complication of troubles.

A short service was held at the home, conducted by the Rev. George J. Cornford, after which the remains were brought to Chariton and on Monday afternoon at two o'clock, funeral services were held at the church in Newbern, conducted by Rev. Meeker, of Columbia, after which interment took place in the Newbern cemetery.

Arena Butler was born in Cochocton county, Ohio, on November 25th, 1850. She was married at Mt. Vernon, Knox county, Ohio on June 4th, 1869 to H. W. Almack, who passed away about seven years ago. Twelve children were born to them, three of whom died in infancy. One son, Earl, died at the age eleven years and a daughter, Mrs. Lora Lyman, passed away April 30th, 1916.

Those surviving are Mrs. Nellie Bellamy, of Knoxville; Mrs. Gertrude Grimes, of Melrose; Mrs. Ida Barger, of Chariton; Mrs. Ethel Jones and Mrs. Edna Mitchell, of Albia; Willis Almack, of Ft. Worth, Texas; and Roll Almack, whose whereabouts are unknown. She also leaves eleven grandchildren.

Mrs. Almack, with her husband and children, moved to Iowa in 1881, settling on a farm near Newbern, where they resided until the fall of 1910, when they left the farm on account of the failing health of Mr. Almack. After his demise she made her home with her daughters until last March, when she moved to her own home in Albia, where she remained until death called her to her reward.

Mrs. Almack was a member of the M. E. church at Newbern. She was converted in her early married life and lived a faithful Christian life. She chose her own text and minister for the funeral. The sorrowing children who survive will have the sympathy of many friends.
