DEATH TAKES IRA M. BIGGS AFTER STROKE OF MONDAY NIGHT; WAS LIBERTY TRUSTEE FOR 2 TERMS --- Porter county lost one of the best known citizens today when Ira M. Biggs, age sixty-four years, died at his home in that township early this morning.

A stroke which he suffered Monday night at midnight from which he never regained consciousness, was the cause of death.

Born and reared in Liberty township, Mr. Biggs followed farming all his life. As a mark of esteem in which he was held by the citizenry of the township, he was twice elected township trustee. He was prominent in republican circles.

Fraternally, he was affiliated with the Masonic and Knights of Pythias lodges at Chesterton.

Surviving are a widow and eight children as follows: Niles Biggs, of Culpepper, Va.; Martin Biggs, of Westville; George Biggs, of Plymouth, Ind.; Harvey Biggs, Chicago; John Biggs, at home; Mrs. Thora Rhoda and Mrs. Harold Lindahl of Chesterton; and Miss Ruth Biggs at home. Two daughters preceded him in death. He also leaves 13 grandchildren, two brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday at two o'clock at the family home in Liberty township, with burial in Chesterton cemetery.
