Helen was the daughter of H. Stanley Payran and Viola Mathes. She married Howard E. Titus on 1 Nov. 1947 in Trenton, Mercer Co., NJ.

SIMI VALLEY, CA - Helen Payran Titus, 95, of Simi Valley, CA, died Wednesday at St. Paul's Home in Simi Valley.

Born in Trenton on March 20, 1914, she was a lifelong resident of Trenton and retired to Crestwood Village in Whiting. She moved to Simi Valley in 1999 to spend the remainder of her time with her family.

A graduate of Bucknell University with a bachelor of science degree, she went on to teach elementary school in the Trenton school system and went on to be an administrator at Trenton State College, now the College of New Jersey, where she retired in 1972.

Helen was an active member of the Daughters of the Revolution (D.A.R.) - General Mercer Chapter. She was also active in the Trenton College Club and The American Association of the University of Women (AAUW).

Daughter of the late H. Stanley and Viola Mathes Payran and wife of the late Howard E. Titus , she is survived by a daughter, Kathryn T. King and her husband, Gary and two grandchildren, Jaime Anne Sher and Kimberly Dena Bayer and her husband, Robert. Also surviving is a great-granddaughter Helena Rae Bayer.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, Sept. 21, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Ewing Cemetery, 98 Scotch Rd. in Ewing Township with Reverend Dr. Kenneth Robinson of the Hopewell United Methodist Church officiating.
