Manson Bud Shields, 85, Chaplin, died Sunday, Dec. 13, 2009, at his residence. He was a native of Washington County, a retired employee of General Electric, a member of Chaplin Christian Church and of Bloomfield Masonic Lodge No. 57 F.&A.M.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Shields; a grandson, Tony Shields; and his parents, Milt Manson and Edith Alma Sparrow Shields. Survivors include a daughter, Patsy (Ricky) Chesser, Chaplin; two sons, Larry (Glenda) Shields, Hardyville, and Mike (Darlene) Shields, Chaplin; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Burns, Chaplin, and Shirley Hardin, Springfield; and a brother, William Popper (Louise) Shields, Bloomfield.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Wednesday at Houghlin Funeral Home with burial in Highview Cemetery, Chaplin. Brother Steve Puckett will officiate. Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home along with an evening Masonic Memorial service. Pallbearers were Roger Burns, Travis Burns, Eric Chesser, Fernando Campoamor, Michael Shields and David Shields. Houghlin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
