Lt. Joseph Moor(e) was a lieutenant fo a train band in Simsbury in 1775. He served in the revolution in Capt. Jonathan Buttolph's company. Eighteeth Regiment Connecticut Militia under Col. Jonathan Pettibone. The regiment marched to the defense of New York in Aug. 1776 whwew Lt. Moore was taken prisoner and died Nov 3 1776. He had been in prison 7 weeks. He was town clerk, deputy to the general court on the committee of correspondence in 1776.
He married Mary Stevens, who died Aug 21, 1811 (92 yrs) daughter of Thomas Stevens and Miriam Buel.

Lieut Joseph Moor(e), buried in the Baptist Cemetery in North Granby, Connecticut, died November 3, 1776. He died as a prisoner of war in the former Hampden Hall Tavern (which was used as an officer's prison) at the southwest corner of Warren Street and Broadway in New York City.
