Son of Hannah (Case) and Rev. Jonathan Allen Miller. Died three days after being thrown from a runaway horse. Married Hannah Clarke, June 7, 1817, Amsterdam, NY. Horace and his siblings moved to Mt. Morris, NY. Ezra L. Miller,his brother, came to Winnebago Co IL in 1837, and encouraged Horace and Allen to purchase land with him in New Milford Township. Horace and his brother Allen arrived in March 1839. They immediately planted crops and built a house; Horace then went back to NY for his family. He owned over 1250 acres of land where the airport is now. He was state representative from Winnebago County in the years 1850-1852. He named the town of Mt. Morris, Illinois after the place where they came from in NY. In 1861 he sold his farm and moved to Rockford. Known children: Gardner Clarke; Sarah Allen; Nancy Eliza; Horace Gilbert; Hannah Caroline; and William Henry.
