Arlene Naomi Reece Franks, 88, Kansas City, MO, passed away January 11, 2004, at Delmar Gardens Care Center in Overland Park, KS. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, January 15 at Park Lawn Chapel, Kansas City, MO, followed by graveside services at 2 p.m. at Star Valley Cemetery, La Cygne, KS. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. Arlene was born September 2, 1915, in Quenemo, KS, the daughter of Robert E. and Ruth A. Sanders. Her parents left Quenemo when she was a baby. While the family was living near La Cygne, KS, Arlene met and married Earnest Franklin Reece. They farmed near La Cygne for 38 years until his death June 7, 1972. In 1974, she married Newell Wilson Franks in Kansas City, MO, where they spent their entire married life. Arlene was preceded in death by a son, Howard Reece, two brothers, Kenneth and Howard Sanders, and two sisters, Faye Ray and Frances Sanders. She is survived by her husband Newell, of the home; three daughters and a daughter-in-law, Eva Arnett and husband Paul, Eagan, MN, Mary Milton and husband Dale, Olathe, KS, Carol Creager and husband Marvin, Fort Scott, KS, and Jo Reece, Osceola, MO; also surviving are three step-daughters, Joyce Plank and husband Jim, Raytown, MO, Janet Altschul, Arlington, TX, and Edith Franks, Independence, MO; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; seven step-greatgrandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
