Retired Sergeant Major Clifton Roy Koger, 52, of Oneida, passed away suddenly on Sunday afternoon, October 6, at Fort Sanders Parkwest Hospital in Knoxville. He was the son of the late Gilbert D. Koger and Evelyn Foster Koger and was also preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert D. and Evelyn Foster Koger; one brother, Conley Koger; and one brother-in-law, Jake Lowe. Mr. Koger was a member of the Oneida Board of Mayor and Alderman and had been re-elected as alderman in the most recent city election. He is survived by his wife, Judy Koger of Oneida; two sons, Stephen Koger and wife Linda of Conway, Ark., and Michael Koger and wife Allison of Little Rock, Ark; brothers and sisters, Clinton Koger and wife Geneva of Puryear, Tenn., Clifford Koger and wife Reba of Oneida, Cecile Lowe of Oneida, Milford Koger and wife Lisa of Madisonville, Cora Wright and husband Charles of Palm Beach Garden, Fla., Irene Hall of Oneida, Joan Baker and husband Don of Ross, O., Coletta Stanley and husband Bob of Palm Beach Garden, Fla., and Charlie Koger of Oneida; one grandchild, Jacob Koger; several nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted from the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 9, at 10 a.m., with Rev. Lloyd King officiating and the Hancock Family singers provided special music. Interment was in the Foster Crossroads Cemetery, with full military honors provided by American Legion Post #136.
