Roberta E. Avery, 101, a former resident of the Fond du Lac Lutheran Home, died Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at Hospice Home of Hope, Fond du Lac. She was born the daughter of Robert and Elizabeth Spratz Dille on October 20, 1906 in Fond du Lac. On June 19, 1934 she married Earl H. Avery in Illinois and he preceded her in death on April 26, 1982. Roberta graduated from Goodrich High School in the first graduating class. She was a member of Pilgrim United Church of Christ where she was active in Sunday School and youth groups. She was a wonderful organist, playing for the silent movies at both the Fond du Lac Theater and the Retlaw Theater. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, spending time with her grandchildren who lovingly called her "GiGi". Roberta was a loving mother and cherished the many memorable hours she spent with her daughter, Janet.
SURVIVORS: one daughter, Janet (Jack) Witte, Fond du Lac and their four children, Michael (Maritza) Witte, Algonquin, IL and their two children, Sarah and Emily; Catherine (Gordon) Burkett, Knoxville, TN and their two children, Megan and Matthew; Mark (special friend, Lisa) Witte, Eagen, MN and his two children, Jordan and Elizabeth; Steven (Mandy) Witte, Plymouth, MN and their four children, Brooke, Paige, Jack and Abby; one son, James (Farrel) Avery, Surprise, AZ and his four children, Scott (Joanne) Avery, Kalamazoo, MI and their two children, Travis and Zachery; Carol (Jeff) Ernst, Wixom, MI and their two children, Ryan and Taylor; David (Natalie) Avery, Waterford, MI and their three children, Jackson, Sylvia and Lily; Craig (Ann) Avery, Green Bay, WI and their three children, Megan, Katie and Jessica. She is further survived by a stepdaughter, Sally (Reub) Demand, Ocala, FL and their three children, Shari Krueger, Stephen Demand and Nancy Wendt. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; an infant daughter, Carol Elizabeth Avery; a brother, Fred Dille; a sister, Dorothy Morse; a great grandchild, Kelly Tyler Witte, daughter of Steven and Mandy Witte.

VISITATION: will be from 11AM – 2PM on Saturday, September 20, 2008 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. Ted Drewsen officiating. Entombment will follow at Ledgeview Memorial Park, Shrine of Rest Mausoleum.
