The body was found at about 7:30 o’clock in the morning by the son, John S. Milne, who had come down to the shop for the day’s work a short time after his father. Mr. Milne had been despondent for the last several weeks over failing health … He was dead when found.
Mr. Milne was a printer since boyhood and was a veteran of many California shops. He had been employed on both Chico papers and previous to that time had held positions on Sacramento newspapers. He also worked for a time on Oroville and Marysville papers and in a number of southern California shops.
No inquest will be held, Deputy Coroner West announced, as a complete investigation has been made.
Mr. Milne was born July 24, 1873, in Canada and had been in California for 27 years, a number of which had been spent in Chico. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Caroline Milne; a daughter, Margaret Milne, and two sons, Everett and John Milne. Eight sisters, all residents of North Dakota, also survive.
The funeral will be held at 2 o’clock tomorrow afternoon at the Westfall Funeral Home, with the Rev. W.J. Lee of the Broadway Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in the Chico Cemetery.
