FT. LAUDERDALE, FLA. - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of the Lake Parish at St. James in North Jackson for Stephen D. Adams, 52, of Ft. Lauderdale, formerly of Berlin Center, who, along with his partner, Kevin was murdered at their home Christmas Eve.
Stephen was born Nov. 21, 1958, in Pontiac, Mich., to Jerry and Marilyn (Mehalic) Adams.
He was a 1976 Graduate of Western-Reserve High School, where he received the TOWR Award. Stephen then received his Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree from Bowling Green State University.
Stephen was a kind and gentle soul, he was a true animal lover. He was devoted to his profession, he was a Registered Nurse at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Florida, most recently an Infection Control Specialist there. Stephen was valued for his ability as an Clinical Educator as well. He also received a BSN and CNOR nursing designations. Prior to relocating to Florida, Stephen worked for the Cleveland Clinic for 20 years as a Registered Nurse.
Stephen was preceded in death by his grandparents and his beloved partner of 30 years Kevin Mark Powell.
He was a wonderful brother and a good listner.
Stephen is survived by his parents of Berlin Center; his brother and sister-in-law, Chris and Stephanie Adams of Homeworth; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Melissa and Rodney Badgett of Ellsworth, and Marci and Brian Craig of Goshen Township; eight nieces and nephews, Melissa, Kinsey, Adam, Amanda, Mitchell, Clayton, Maxwell and Caleb; several aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends; and his faithful Pomeranian companion, Petey.
