Born May 13, 1940, at Camp Crowder in Neosho, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd "Tom" Winchester and Bessie McGuire Winchester. She was a 1958 graduate of Neosho High School. Phyllis lived in the Joplin-Neosho areas most of her lifetime, except for 30 years, when she moved with her husband's career in several localities. A homemaker for most of her life, she also owned and operated Quail Meadows Kennel, a dog breeding and grooming business, for several years. She was a Baptist.
On April 5, 1958, she married Bob R. Fields at Cave Springs Baptist Church. He survives.
Additional survivors include two sons, Ron Fields of Kansas City, Daniel Fields and wife, Jeanette, of Joplin; a daughter, Debbie Heinrich and husband, Tim, of Garber, Okla.; a sister, Twylla Gisel and husband, Vernon, of Neosho; five grandchildren, Michelle Muns and husband, Steve, of Ponca City, Okla., Luke Peat and fiancé, Heather, of Billings, Okla., Kelly Fields of Neosho, Rebecca Taylor, of Mount Vernon, Mo., Daniel Woelbling of Florissant, Mo.; two step grandsons, Baxter and Garret Heinrich; two great-grandchildren, Hannah and Tori; sister-in-law, Janet Winchester; and brother-in-law, Howard Murray.
A sister, Corinna Murray; and a brother, Jim Winchester, preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Parker Chapel. Stan Elmore, minister, will officiate. Interment will follow at Osborne Memorial Cemetery. Family serving as pallbearers will be Darrell Murray, Trent Fittje, David Gisel, Dan Gisel, Luke Peat, Garell Murray, Jim Murray and Rusty Winchester. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at Parker Mortuary.
