CULLINAN SERVICES

ARLINGTON -- A service to celebrate the life of Dorothy M. Cullinan was held Wednesday afternoon at the Federated Church of East Arlington with Rev. Joan Newton O'Gorman, pastor, officiating.

The service opened with flutist Jeremy Clayton playing "Just A Closer Walk With Thee:. Music was under the direction of organist Douglas Bischoff who accompanied the congregation in singing "The Old Rugged Cross". Psalm 23, the Serenity Prayer and The Lord's Prayer were recited in unison by the congregation. During the homily Rev. O'Gorman reflected upon Mrs. Cullinans joy of cooking, the many phrases she would use, her genuine hospitality and caring for others whether they were friends or someone she had just met.

Personal reflections and memories were shared by a granddaughter, Sandra Grover, as well as by many friends and relatives, poems written by great-grandchildren Randy and Lisa were recited by a granddaughter Victoria Hill.

The congregation joined in singing "Pass It On" and concluded the service with the hymn "Let There Be Peace On Earth". A gathering followed in Bailey Hall.

Prior to the service committal services were held at the Cullinan family lot in St. Columban's Cemetery with Rev. O'Gorman offering the committal prayers.

Mrs. Cullinan, 92, a longtime resident of Route 7A died peacefully Saturday evening Nov. 25, 2000 at her home surrounded by her family. Arrangements were under the care of the Arlington Chapel of the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home.
