DIED. Of Diptheria, in Buckingham, on the 7th inst, after a few days illness, JAMES MORRISON, only child of Alex. J. and Emily M. Bondurant, age 1 27 months. Little Mo(r)rison was an interesting boy. He was his mother's joyous __?__, and father's fond delight, and the lore of all. He has left us f(o)r his heavenly home, where sorrow, pain, and death are no more, and to enjoy eternal rest with little Angels.
O, how few his days on earth,
But long will he his rest,
The "Faviour" called him you know,
Becasue he thought it best.
Per the 21 Nov 1862 issue of the Richmond Whig (see photo).

Note his 21 Nov 1862 obit says he died on 7th (presumed in November), and his gravestone says 31 Oct 1862.

James Morrison Bondurant was the young son of A. J. & E. M., aged 2 yr 3 mo 10 dy.

Parts of his epitaph are hard to read. It MAY say:
"Then if to God with faith sincere
Our darling boy was given.
The kindred tie that bound us here
Though rent(?) apart with many a tear
Shall be rendered in heaven."
