"Louisa Kettler Abendroth"
Funeral services for Mrs. Louisa Abendroth were held at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Will Lehmann, in Needville, Sunday, December 26, 1943, at 2 p.m. Services were continued at the Needville Methodist church at 2:45 p.m., conducted by Rev. A. M. Roos, pastor. Interment took place in the Needville Public Cemetery.
The Foerster Funeral Home of Rosenberg had charge of funeral arrangements and the following served as pallbearers: A. B. Schmidt, Bill Raska, C. T. Zich, Fritz Hackstedt, C. T. Snedecor and John Kossa. She passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lehmann, on Thursday, December 23, 1943.
Mrs. Abendroth, nee Louisa Kettler, was born May 25, 1859 in Germany. She came to American in October 1873 and was married to Carl Aendroth in 1881. The couple resided in Schulenburg, Texas until 1889, when they moved to Needville, Texas where they resided until 1909, moving then to Brenham, Texas. Her husband preceded her in death in 1913, since that date she had made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Will Lehmann, in whose home she passed away.
Three children were born to this union, Gus Abendroth and Mrs. Alma Cowan of Houston and Mrs. Fena Lehmann of Needville, all of who survive her. She is also survived by four step-children, Mrs. Augusta Foerster of Rosenberg, Mrs. Emma Banker of Needville, Will Abendroth of Wharton and Herman Aabendroth of Needville; one sister, Mrs. Charles Steinfeld of Miles, Texas and one brother, William Kettler of Alvin; 33 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren.
Mrs. Abendroth was for a number of years prior to her death the only surviving charter member of the Needville Methodist Church. She was a fine christian friend, mother, step-mother and grandmother and she will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.
