Carole was born April 2, 1919, in North Bend, Nebraska, to Sidney and Mabel (McCluhan) Moore. She was graduated from North Bend High School, moved to Genoa, Nebraska, and worked as a nurse's aide at a medical facility. Carole met and later married John Gordon Olson on August 4, 1943, in a garden wedding at her aunt's rural home beside the Platte River near North Bend. After growing up in town, she quickly adapted to the life of a supporting farmer's wife. She and Gordon farmed near Genoa for forty years where they raised and educated their four children.

Carole was a long-time member of the Genoa United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday school, was a member and officer of United Methodist Women. She and Gordon were active in the church, supported youth activities, and were members of Pairs and Spares. She was a member of a Nance County Extension Club and was a 4-H leader in Nance County. After retiring from the farm in 1983, Carole and Gordon moved into Genoa. Carole and Gordon enjoyed many activities at the Pawnee Senior Center where she played her kazoo and sang with the Golden Oldies. Carole also enjoyed traveling to visit her children and a growing number of grandchildren. After the death of her husband she visited Canada, Washington, New York, Australia, New Zealand and St. Thomas and St. John, United States Virgin Islands. Since 2000, she has been a resident of Prairie Village in Columbus where she became involved in many day trips and activities.
