Philip is the son of Philip and Hannah (Locke) Proctor. He married Dorcas Dimmick 23 Sep 1809 in Sullivan, Cheshire Co, NH. They had 8 children. They moved to Rutland VT, then to Illinois. Dorcas Dimmick Proctor died 15 Dec 1865 and is buried at Rutland Cemetery, in Rutland, Marshall Co, IL. The latest documentation of Philip is a land transaction in 1845 in Vermont. His death record has not yet been found. In "Portrait and Biographical Record of Ford County, Illinois" published 1892, p659 are a couple paragraphs about Philip's son Willard, which goes on to say: Williard is a "son of Philip and Dorcas (Dimmick) Proctor. The former was born in the vicinity of Boston, Mass., and the latter in Connecticut. They were married in Sullivan, N. H., in September, 1809, and reared a family of eight children, of whom Willard is the youngest. By occupation, Mr. Proctor was a farmer, and followed that business throughout his entire life. He and his wife were members of the Baptist Church, and were highly respected people. Their remains were laid to rest in the cemetery near their old home." Since Willard died several years after the book was published, the author appears to be describing Philip and Dorcas. It is presumed from this book that Philip is buried in the same cemetery as Dorcas, but with no marker.
