ELYRIA — Martha "Marty" Kathryn Burch (nee Dennis) 84, of Elyria, passed away Saturday, April 18, 2009 at New Life Hospice Residence Center in Lorain following a lengthy illness.
She resided with her daughter Martha, her caregiver, for the last six years in Penfield, Ohio.
Martha was born August 13, 1924 in Uniontown, Pa. She graduated Class of 1943 North Uniontown High School. She retired from Bendix after 34 years of service. Some of her greatest joys were sewing, arts and crafts, playing cards, going to flea markets and taking her grandchildren to Cedar Point. Her favorite trip was always to Wisconsin Dells, which she looked forward to every year. She loved entering Antiques in the Lorain County Fair were she won hundreds of ribbons. Martha belonged to the Eagles Club, Moose Lodge, and the Vikings Club for many years.
Survivors include her daughter; Marsha (husband Jack) Dean (nee Burch) of Penfield, son; Michael Burch of Elyria, sister; Betty Weigl of Elyria, and a brother Joseph W. Dennis of Dayton, 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years Joseph Burch, sons; Shawn and Joseph, sister; Emma Rose Livingston, and parents Sarah M. Dennis (nee Taylor) and Joseph W. Dennis.
Friends may call Tuesday April 21, 2009, 5:00 till 8:00 p.m. at Wyers Funeral Chapel, 2900 North Ridge Road, Sheffield Twp. Funeral services will be Wednesday, 11:00 a.m. at Cornerstone Methodist Church in Elyria. Pastor Dale Warrick will officiate. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery in Lorain.
